AMENDMENT to PROPOSITION 7.1

    7.1(Amended) Update Articles, Rules and Bye-Laws to comply with the Objectives of The R & A and England Golf Women-in-Golf Charter – AMENDED PROPOSITION CHANGES to Articles, Rules and Bye-laws

Proposer Russ (John) Conway Seconder Paul D’Arcy – agreed by Colin Huckle & Sharon Rand.

Reason for Amendment:
This amendment is submitted to support our commitments to Women-In-Golf, and reinforce the commitments made by the Board to the EGU and the WGC Ladies Golf section. Ensuring these commitments are not only delivered, but exceeded, allowing WGC to lead by example and set the highest standards in all matters related to the WIG Charter.
To enable this, our most senior elected Woman Member, The Ladies Captain, will join the Management Board. This will add a strong female voice, leadership and drive to the Management Board, particularly for all matters related to the Clubs Women-in Golf Charter.
An ambition for Weymouth Golf Club to lead all other Golf Clubs in the County and the Country in bringing girls, women and families into the Golf Lifestyle and leading the charge of women into Golf Careers and Golf Management with opportunities in the wider golf industry at home and abroad will be described and delivered.
England Golf Women-In-Golf Charter Principles:
1. To encourage more girls/ women to play golf and join golf clubs
2. To inspire more families to enjoy golf as group Leisure Activities
3. To open up more opportunities for women to work within the golf industry’
‘A Golf Club can select commitments from the Charter Objectives that are appropriate and realistic to their Club/ membership, for example;
A stronger gender balance addressing equality issues
Positive action to support recruitment, retention and progress of Women within the industry
Putting the Women-In-Golf Charter Objectives within the Clubs Strategic Plans

Effect of Amendment:
To make the Ladies Captain a Director of Weymouth Golf club and to add the Ladies Captain as a voting member of the Management Board and as a Member of the Golf Committee. The Ladies Captain will be supported at Board Meetings by another Lady Member nominated by the Ladies Section, as appropriate.
